Big changes are underway for the WWE announce team. After today’s SmackDown show in Barcelona, Spain, Lilian Garcia announced her departure as the brand’s full-time ring announcer.
Garcia’s Farewell to Full-time SmackDown Duties
The March 15, 2025, SmackDown event marked Garcia’s return to Spain and also her final show as the full-time announcer. But this isn’t a complete goodbye.
New Opportunities for garcia
In a video message, Garcia confirmed she will continue her relationship with WWE. She stated she’ll be handling ring announcing duties for all WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) specials, which occur four times a year. additionally, she’ll be collaborating with WWE on new projects.
Garcia shared her enthusiasm in an Instagram post, stating, “Just finished announcing SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain and it was absolutely unbelievable!! Gracias por todo el amor España! ❤️”
She continued, “But now I have some news that this was my last show as the full-time SmackDown announcer. A new era is upon us BUT I will still be with the company as I will be announcing for all @wwe Saturday Night’s Main Event shows on @nbc & @peacock , singing at certain special events, AND currently working on other show ideas with WWE! 😉”

Who Will Replace Garcia on SmackDown?
The question now is: who will take over as the SmackDown ring announcer? Currently, Alicia Taylor announces for Raw, and Mike Rome covers NXT. However, recent months have seen flexible assignments, with Garcia even filling in for Rome on NXT recently.

There has been some shifting in the roles. On the Monday before her departure, Rome announced for Raw instead of Taylor, and he was also on duty for NXT the following night.

Garcia had made a comeback to WWE in October 2024, stepping in for Samantha Irvin.

The WWE Universe was surprised by the news of Lilian Garcia’s departure from her full-time role as SmackDown ring announcer. Archyde News’ Brenda Sterling sat down with Lilian to discuss her decision,ongoing projects,and what fans can expect next.Here’s the inside scoop:
The Interview
Brenda Sterling, Archyde News: Lilian, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. The WWE universe was quite surprised by your announcement. can you walk us through your decision to transition from full-time SmackDown announcer?
Lilian Garcia: Brenda, thanks for having me! It definitely wasn’t an easy decision. I love the energy of SmackDown and connecting with the fans every week. However,the possibility to focus on announcing for all the Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) shows on NBC and Peacock,along with the possibility of developing new projects with WWE,was too exciting to pass up.It allows me a little more adaptability while still being very much a part of the WWE family.
Brenda Sterling, Archyde News: speaking of the WWE family, you mentioned your excitement about announcing the Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) specials. What are you most looking forward to about that role?
Lilian Garcia: SNME events are iconic! They have a special energy and history. I’m thrilled to bring my voice and passion to those shows, reaching a broader audience on NBC and Peacock.Plus, it’s a chance to create even more memorable moments with the WWE Superstars and the fans.
Brenda Sterling, Archyde News: You also alluded to working on new projects with WWE.Is there anything you can share with us about these potential shows or collaborations?
Lilian Garcia: (Laughs) I wish I could reveal more! Let’s just say that we’re exploring some exciting avenues that will allow me to connect with the WWE Universe in new and diffrent ways. it’s still in the early stages, but I’m incredibly optimistic about the potential. Stay tuned!
Brenda Sterling,Archyde News: You stepped in for Samantha Irvin last October in 2024. What does this continuous relationship with wwe mean to you?
Lilian Garcia: Stepping in for Samantha was a great honor. The WWE is truly my extended family. The warmth and support I receive from everyone – from the Superstars to the crew and, most importantly, the fans – is unparalleled. This new chapter signifies my continued commitment to that family and to delivering memorable experiences for the WWE Universe.
Brenda Sterling, Archyde News: There’s been some discussion about who will replace you on SmackDown. What are your thoughts on potential candidates like Alicia Taylor or Mike Rome taking over?
Lilian Garcia: Both Alicia and Mike are incredibly talented. They each bring their unique style and energy to the ring. Whoever takes on the role will undoubtedly do a fantastic job. I’m excited to see who it will be and to watch them make the position their own.
Brenda Sterling, Archyde News: a more personal question: what’s one moment from your time as a full-time SmackDown announcer that stands out in your memory?
Lilian Garcia: Oh, there are so many! But one that always brings a smile to my face is from a SmackDown in Mexico City. The energy of the crowd was electric, and when I announced Edge for his match, the roar was so loud it vibrated the entire arena. It was a powerful reminder of the connection between the Superstars and their fans, and it’s a feeling I’ll never forget.
