Well, first of all, let me say, I was very supportive of Zelensky when I was president.We had a great relationship. But I’ve had conversations with people who know him well, and they say he’s been making terrible decisions. I mean, he hasn’t held any elections since 2019. That’s not democracy, that’s a dictator.
He had the chance to make a deal, but he didn’t take it.Now, thousands of people are dying. I’m not blaming him for all the deaths, but he’s a big part of it. He has to move fast before it’s to late.
On Negotiations and Diplomatic Efforts
Given your concern for the situation,what steps do you think should be taken to end the conflict? You’ve mentioned that negotiations with Russia might be the solution.
Look, I’ve had very good conversations with the Russians. They want to talk, and that’s a good thing. Without talking,you can never solve anything. The Europeans and the Ukrainians, they can’t do it without us. We have leverage here.
I’m not saying we should give up on Ukraine, but we have to prioritize American interests.We can’t keep sending billions of dollars to defend other people’s borders. It’s just not fair to the American taxpayer.

I’d say, look, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. But I’ve been doing this a long time. I’ve made a lot of good deals. This is not about me. It’s about doing what’s best for America and for the American people.
I think we need to encourage peace, but we also have to show strength. And I think it’s time we start putting America first again.
