U.S.-Russia Talks in Saudi Arabia: A Shift in Approach to Ukraine Conflict

In a significant development, top U.S. and Russian officials met in saudi Arabia for the moast extensive negotiations between the two countries in three years.

The talks, wich lasted nearly five hours at the Diriyah Palace in Riyadh, resulted in an agreement to establish a high-level team dedicated to supporting Ukraine peace negotiations. Additionally, both sides committed to exploring economic and investment opportunities that could arise from a successful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that the talks reflected a “tectonic shift” in Washington’s approach to Russia, moving away from the Biden administration’s efforts to isolate Moscow.

Rubio emphasized that any solution to the Ukraine conflict must be acceptable to all parties involved, including Ukraine, Europe, and Russia.
