It’s a new form of area control, and the team that masters it first will have a considerable advantage.

Archyde: June Cuervo from Riot Games mentioned Waylay filling a “space-taking duelist” role. How do you see Waylay fitting into existing team comps?
blitz: I think she’ll be a natural fit as an entry fragger, but with a twist. Refract provides a degree of safety that other entry duelists often lack, allowing for more calculated risks. given the unique double dash, she won’t replace Phoenix or Reyna, since the agent’s will require vastly different skill sets. I can see her working well with initiators like Breach or Skye, who can set her up for successful plays. The key, as with any agent, will be coordination and interaction.
The Ultimate: Convergent Paths
Archyde: What are your theories on “Convergent Paths” ultimate?
blitz: It’s a challenging ability to predict but on paper it feels like the perfect tool for site takes. Waylay drops an afterimage that projects light ahead, and after a short delay you get a speed boost and the beam expands, providing Hindering to nearby players. If the time delay between the image and hindering affect is small, then this ability could be one of the best zone control ultimates VALORANT has to offer. Time will tell if that’s the case though!

blitz: absolutely. Her kit is unique, powerful, and offers a fresh tactical dimension to the game. Mastering her movement will be crucial, but the potential reward is high.
