Union’s Plesser Named Liberty League Performer of the Week

Union‘s Jack Plesser Dominates Court, Earns Performer of the Week Honors

Sophomore forward Jack Plesser is riding a wave of momentum, capped off by being named the Liberty League Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week. His exceptional performance on the court led Union College to a strong showing, including a prestigious All-Tournament Team selection at the annual Sig Makofski Invitational.

A Week of Break Through Performances

Plesser was a force to be reckoned with, averaging an impressive 26.3 points per game throughout the week. His shooting accuracy was remarkable, hitting 60.8 percent of his field goal attempts (31 of 51) and an astounding 82.4 percent from the free-throw line (14 of 17). He wasn’t just scoring; Plesser was also a presence on both ends of the court, contributing 16 rebounds (5.3 rpg), six assists, four blocks, and four steals across the three games.

The week began with Plesser setting a career-high 35 points against St. John Fisher University on Tuesday. He took control of the game in the second half, pouring in 17 of the team’s first 23 points to give Union the lead for most of the remainder of the game. Then, in the first round of the Sig Makofski Invitational against Vermont State University Lyndon on Saturday, Plesser showcased his efficiency, scoring 20 points in just 23 minutes, connecting on 8 of his 11 field goal attempts. He carried that momentum into the championship game on Sunday against Colby, where he led all scorers with 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds, earning him a well-deserved spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Leading the Charge

Plesser’s sizzling start to the season puts him atop the leaderboard for Union, averaging a team-leading 22.0 points per game. He’s showcasing his offensive prowess by shooting an impressive 55.1 percent from the field (43 of 78) and an equally remarkable 83.3 percent from the free-throw line (20 of 24).

As Union enters Liberty League play this weekend, Plesser is poised to continue his dominance. TheTFT Garnet Chargers will face their first league challenge on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Hobart College.
