Ukrainian Air Defenses Neutralize Most Russian Drones in Overnight Assault

Ukraine successfully intercepted a majority of drones launched by Russia during an overnight assault that targeted multiple oblasts across the country. Ukrainian Air Force reports eight out of ten enemy drones were destroyed.

The drones originated from launch sites in Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, engaging targets in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson. Of the ten drones launched, eight were shot down, one lost tracking, and one reached an occupied territory.

The Kherson Oblast bore the brunt of the attacks, with Russian forces targeting 22 settlements in the past day. The Ukrainian Air Forces reported a ballistic missile strike in the Berislav district, resulting in significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

“Russian forces targeted residential areas in our communities. Private homes, a garage, communal building, a store, a number of private vehicles sustained damage," said Governor Oleksandr Produkin. He added that the attack tragically resulted in one fatality and six injuries.

The Ukrainian air defenses remained active, specifically ensuring the destruction of one Shahed-131/136 drone over the Kherson Oblast.
