A Robust Resource in the Classroom
The new tools quickly made their way into classrooms, and generations benefited right away.
CM2 teacher Salima Huff and her students had the privilege of being among the first to experience the new technology. For their inaugural computer lesson, Leila and Louanne excitedly explored the basics of word processing, laughing as they experimented with changing font colors.
“We had to write our first and last names. We had to put the colors and the size together.”
Salima Huff pressed the importance of the computers as a learning tool, complementing traditional methods.
“For me, the interest is enormous! We will use it in the context of word processing, it allows us to write, to use collaborative walls, the ‘padlet’. Children will be able to express themselves,” said Salima Huff explaining how the computers open the door to allow children to express themselves. “There will really be continuity between class and home.”
The timing of this donation couldn’t have been better, with an allophone student set to join the school in a few weeks.
Salima Huff already envisions using the technology to support the student.
“This will allow me to do some off-the-wall activities for him. While I am with the rest of the class, I could offer her videos where she will be able to learn vocabulary.
