The Role:

General Motors is leading the charge in the automotive industry by transitioning to electric power and innovating with state-of-the-art central computing and autonomous vehicle technologies. Our dynamic ECU Mechanical & Thermal Design team embodies creativity and energy, concentrating on the crucial mechanical and thermal engineering for next-generation Electronic Control Units (ECUs). This team plays a vital role in designing, analyzing, and refining the mechanical and thermal features of cutting-edge ECU designs while also reviewing and sanctioning modifications to production ECU designs.

We invite applications for the position of Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, someone eager to spearhead the in-house development of General Motors’ electronic designs. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of the mechanical design and development processes for electrical controllers aligned with our next-generation Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture. Your proficiency in fostering robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be paramount.

What You’ll do:

  • Execute mechanical design of ECUs per program timing, leading to successful launch of the product.

  • Design mechanical components including castings, injection moldings, stampings, seals, and fastening elements.

  • Create 2D-CAD and 3D-CAD models, leading CAD reviews with stakeholders to ensure design quality.
