In an exclusive interview with Archyde News, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati shares insights into her upcoming material at the Regional Head Retreat in Magelang and her thoughts on efficiency in regional leadership.

Minister Sri Mulyani, thank you for joining us today. Your scheduled to speak at the Regional Head Retreat tonight.Can you give us a sneak peek into yoru material?

“Thank you for having me.Tonight, I’ll be discussing the importance of efficiency in regional leadership. I believe that regional heads play a crucial role in driving local development and improving the lives of our citizens. My material will focus on how we can enhance the efficiency of regional governance and ensure that our resources reach those who need them most.”

Your speech is highly anticipated, especially given the recent focus on efficiency and productivity.What are some key takeaways you hope the regional heads will grasp from your presentation?

“I’d like them to understand that efficiency is not just about cutting costs or reducing manpower. ItS about maximizing the impact of our resources, improving service delivery, and empowering local communities. I’ll be sharing some practical steps they can take to achieve this, including the proper compilation and implementation of Regional Mid-term Development Plans (RPJMD).”

You mentioned earlier that efficiency is about more than just numbers. Can you elaborate on that?

“Absolutely. Efficiency is about creating meaningful change and improving people’s lives. It’s about delivering services in a way that is responsive, accessible, and equitable. To achieve this,regional heads must engage with their communities,understand their needs,and involve them in the planning and implementation processes.It’s not just about meeting targets; it’s about creating real impact on the ground.”

The Regional Head Retreat is a great platform for discussion and learning. What do you hope to learn from the regional heads and other participants during the event?

“I’m really looking forward to hearing about the innovative solutions and successful initiatives that regional heads have implemented in their areas. I believe we can learn a lot from each other, and sharing these experiences can help us all improve. I’m also interested in understanding the challenges they face and how we, as a central government, can better support them in their work.”

Lastly, Minister, what advice would you give to regional heads who want to improve efficiency but face challenges in their areas?

“It’s crucial to remember that change takes time, and it’s not always easy. But with a clear vision, bold leadership, and a commitment to engaging with your communities, it’s possible to make meaningful improvements. I would also encourage them to leverage technology and data to inform their decision-making and track their progress. And, of course, I’m here to support them in any way I can.”
