Sofia Shimmers with Festive Decorations as Holiday Season Begins
The holiday spirit now illuminates Sofia, with festive décor transforming the city into a winter wonderland.
Mayor Vasil Terziev, accompanied by Santa Claus, officially launched the city’s spectacular holiday display with the lighting of a towering 15-meter Christmas tree in front of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
Despite some drizzle, the square was abuzz with excitement as children and adults filled space, eager to witness the magical moment and soak in the joyous atmosphere created by the festive program.
“This Christmas, Sofia will sparkle with holiday decorations in over 50 locations across the city,” announced Mayor Terziev in a previous statement. ”
Streets, squares, and parks will be adorned in the spirit of Christmas, creating a magical experience for residents and visitors alike.”
Music filled the air as Orlin Pavlov, alongside cheerful children’s vocal groups, ensured everyone’s spirits were high.
Central locations will be adorned with festive cheer. In addition to the towering tree in front of the iconic Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a festive fir will grace St. Nedelya Square and another will stand proudly at the National Palace of Culture, where a unique theme will feature ornaments crafted by hand by children.
Adding to Sofia’s visual holiday feast will be designated photo areas adorned with festive ornaments and captivating installations interspersed throughout the city at vibrant locations, including in front of the National Theater and Largoto.
Adding to the city’s charm, several trams have been given holiday makeovers, transforming ordinary journeys into part of the прыष्ठки festive experience.
Key boulevards, streets, and parks will not only be festooned with dazzling holiday lights, but they’ll become lively hubs for Christmas markets. These markets will offer a delightful array of seasonal treats, gifts, and entertainment, further enhancing Sofia’s vibrant holiday atmosphere.
Sofia invites residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the season’s magic using its well-lit pathways to explore these seasonal celebrations.
