The Polish Ministry of Sports and Tourism has ramped up its efforts to promote tourism through sport. In 2022 alone, ministry funding for hosting international competitions soared by 300%. This surge coincided with Poland stepping in to host several competitions originally scheduled to take place in Russia, showcasing the country’s commitment to international sports. The country has continued this trend, announcing a PLN51.5 million ($12.6 million) initiative in 2023 to promote tourism through its club sports teams.
The 2025 European Short Course Championships are set to take place in December 2025. Poland currently holds the 10th place on the all-time medal table for the championships, having garnered a total of 35 gold, 31 silver, and 29 bronze medals.
