SECURITY of the 2024 IFG Labuan Bajo Marathon route is different from previous years. This year the Komodo dragon handler or ranger took part in securing the Labuan Bajo Marathon route which was held on Saturday (9/11).

The Komodo handlers are placed on the Trans Golo Mori route, especially the route that passes through the villages of Macang Tanggar and Warloka.

Chief Executive of the IFG Labuan Bajo Marathon, Oktarina Dwidya Sistha, said that his party had prepared three rangers who would later be on standby along the 2024 Labuan Bajo Marathon routes, especially those with the potential to contain Komodo dragons.

“To secure routes where there are potential Komodo dragons, we involve rangers along the route, especially on the Golo Mori route,” explained Sistha, during a press conference, Friday (8/11) in Labuan Bajo.

This year the IFG Labuan Bajo Marathon provides several race categories, namely Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Kids Sprint.

Specifically for the Marathon and Half Marathon categories, it will cross Jl. Soe Karno-Hatta, Jl. Pede Beach towards Trans Golo Mori, turn around at Warloka village then cross the Panturan route then return to Jl. Soekarno Hatta.

All participants will be pampered with a route that presents the natural beauty of Labuan Bajo, from exotic coastlines to hills.

Sistha explained that the IFG Labuan Bajo Marathon route had succeeded in obtaining an International Measurement Certificate from World Athletics or the international athletics governing body that regulates and monitors athletic competition regulations.

“The route has been internationally certified from the World Athletics International Measurement Certificate. Not all marathon routes in Indonesia have this certificate,” explained Sistha

Followed by 2,500 runners

The 2024 Labuan Bajo Marathon, entitled The Most Beautiful Marathon in Indonesia, will be attended by 2,500 national and international runners.

“To date, there are more than 2,500 registered participants from Indonesia and runners from 9 countries besides Indonesia, including Australia, France, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, America, Kenya, England and Bangladesh,” said Sistha.

He added that 90% of officers, like marshall, bike marshallAnd traffic controller IFG LBM 2024 comes from Labuan Bajo residents.

The involvement of local residents aims to ensure that the Labuan Bajo Marathon event provides benefits to the local community. (D-2)
