Time marches on, yet the triumphs of Wout van Aert remain consistent. The Belgian cycling star secured victory in the GP Sven Nys on Saturday in Baal—the fourth of eight races in the X20 cyclocross Trophy. This marks his seventh consecutive win in as many cyclocross events since his return to competition on December 4th in Boom.
Van Aert, initially in third place after a mid-race shoe change, brilliantly overhauled Eli Iserbyt and Tom Pidcock to claim the top spot, finishing 10 seconds ahead of the Briton and 29 seconds in front of Iserbyt.
Toon Aerts, who placed fourth on Saturday, maintains his overall standings lead, holding a 1:15 advantage over Iserbyt.
Lucinda Brand emerged victorious in the women’s competition. The Dutch world champion edged out her compatriot Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado by a mere 6 seconds. Denise Betsema rounded out an all-Dutch podium in third, 37 seconds behind Brand. The leading Belgian competitor, True Cant, finished sixth.
