Sarah Wijaya: joey,welcome to the indonesian national team! Its fantastic to have you. What ultimately convinced you to choose Indonesia?
Joey Pelupessy: Thank you, Sarah! It’s an honour to be here. Several factors played a role, but I’d say my conversations with Ragnar Oratmangoen, and the stories he shared about the Indonesian fans, were a significant influence.
sarah Wijaya: Ragnar clearly painted a vivid picture. What specifically about the fans appealed to you?
Joey Pelupessy: he described the atmosphere as “chaotic” in the best way possible – the sheer passion,the packed stadiums.Hearing about 70,000 peopel cheering their hearts out during home matches… that’s something I wanted to experience firsthand. I believe that kind of support can be a real game-changer.
Sarah Wijaya: Beyond the fan support, how do you see yourself contributing to the Indonesian team’s ambitions, particularly with the 2026 World Cup in sight?
Joey Pelupessy: I hope to bring my experience and contribute to a strong midfield. I am ready to play my heart out for Indonesia. The goal is to work together, improve as a team, and contribute to achieving that World Cup dream. It’s a collective effort, and I’m ready to play my part.
Sarah wijaya: You’re joining alongside Emil Audero and Dean James. How do you feel about strengthening the squad with these new additions?
Joey Pelupessy: It’s exciting! Adding quality players like Emil and Dean will undoubtedly boost the team’s overall strength and competitiveness. We can push each other to become even better players. Together,we hope to create a formidable force on the field.

joey Pelupessy: Those will be challenging matches, there’s no doubt whatsoever. Success will require a strong team spirit, tactical discipline, and unwavering focus. We will need to be well-prepared. Knowing the quality of the team and the fans that will be supporting the team, I have hope to do my best.
Sarah Wijaya: what message do you have for the Indonesian fans who are eagerly anticipating your debut?
