On December 1st, 2024, Jerry Frank McGuire Jr., a lifelong resident of Greensburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He left this world after a courageous battle with cancer, finally finding solace in the reunion he’d so longed for. “He saw the light and went to the beautiful reunion prepared for him. He is now healed and pain free,” his family shared.
Jerry, fondly known as “Jerry Frank”, was born on February 27, 1967, to Jerry F and Dianna (Shoemake) McGuire. Throughout his life, Jerry’s spirit touched everyone he knew with a warmth and generosity that was truly captivating.
A Man of Many Talents
Jerry’s working life was varied, filled with a series of jobs that showcased his adaptable nature. He spent over 28 years as a skilled electrician, demonstrating his practicality and dedication. However, his true passion lay in dealing cards at the poker table. He had an innate talent for the game and dreamed of one day reaching the pinnacle of the poker world: the World Series of Poker.

When not engrossed in a game of poker, Jerry found solace in nurturing a beautiful garden, his green thumb transforming ordinary patches of earth into vibrant displays. He also cherished spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. He had a unique ability to connect with people of all ages, always ready with a joke or a kind word.
Jerry’s heart remained grateful until the end, and his full of laughter and life. He had a memory like an elephant, often regaling friends and family with stories and anecdotes from days gone by. A joke always seemed to be ready on his tongue, and his laughter was infectious, capable of brightening even the gloomiest of days. “He never met a stranger,” his loved ones recalled.
A Loving Family Man
Jerry married Lori Haney in 1999, and their bond became a source of strength for both of them. “He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather,” his family said. Together, they raised five children: Michelle (Jonathon) Dickson, Justin McGuire, Melissa (Chris) Slavey, September McGuire, and Jennifer McGuire. He was immensely proud of his children and his eleven grandchildren, finding immense joy in watching them grow and flourish. He is survived by them, his wife Lori, his sister Kimberly (Brian) England, his sister-in-law Ruth Mann, brother-in-law Louis Minch, niece Dianna (Nicole) McGuire, nephew Jeremy McGuire, and numerous cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and nephew Vance McGuire.
Honoring Jerry’s Memory
Visitation for Jerry Frank McGuire Jr. will be held at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home on Friday, December 6th, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, with burial at Union Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, in memory of Jerry.
