Archyde News: Mr. Sterling, thank you for joining us today. Amazon’s acquisition of the James Bond franchise has certainly made waves. What were your initial thoughts upon hearing the news?
Timothy Sterling: It was a shock, honestly. Having been a part of the Bond legacy, it’s hard to imagine such a shift. The franchise has always been so carefully curated, and now Amazon steps in, it’s bound to change things.
Archyde News: The reports suggest Amazon now has creative control. How does that impact the future of the films, in your opinion?
Timothy Sterling: Creative control is key. Bond has always had his core tenets: the sophistication, the gadgets, the women, the action. The producers, Wilson and broccoli, understood this. Amazon brings a different outlook, one that might prioritize broader appeal. They will, no doubt, aim to maximize profits, but Bond’s essence is built on a legacy, not just a bottom line.
Archyde News: There’s been much speculation about the next bond. Do you believe a new actor will embody the character the way fans are accustomed to?
Timothy Sterling: That’s the million-dollar question.The actor has to be charismatic, of course.But also, have the gravitas, the intelligence, Bond needs to be a reflection of the era, while staying true to himself. It’s a tough balancing act.
Archyde News: Bond 26 is rumored to have a very large budget. Do you think this is a good thing?
Timothy Sterling: A larger budget isn’t always a guarantee of a better film. It can, hopefully, lead to some dazzling effects and new locations, if used wisely. But the story, the character development, that is paramount. Without that, the spectacle is meaningless. However, Amazon is experienced in running several expensive film projects and a lot of it will depend on the direction.
Archyde News: Some fans are worried the franchise might lose its identity under Amazon’s control. What message would you give to those concerned Bond enthusiasts?
Timothy Sterling: I understand their concerns. Change is always arduous, especially when it comes to something as beloved as James Bond. The heart of Bond, his essence, is found in Ian fleming’s books. I would hope that Amazon understands this, and the best Bond movies have drawn from that inspiration.

timothy Sterling: Respect the legacy. Remember what makes Bond, Bond. Keep the spirit of the character alive, and don’t be afraid to take risks, while staying true to who he is. What do you, the fans, feel the next 007 film should bring?
