Two Infants Found Safe After Being Left Abandoned in Stolen Vehicle
Indianapolis, IN – A quiet November morning turned into a scene of chaos and heroism when two infant girls, ages 4 months and 5 months, were discovered abandoned in car seats outside a home in Indianapolis. The incident has sparked a city-wide search for the individuals responsible.
Robert Deane, a resident on the street where the infants were found, recounted his experience. “I went outside to grab some packages and heard one of the babies crying. I immediately went to investigate and saw the two little girls alone in the car seats,” he said in a statement. “They seemed freezing cold. I rushed them inside, gave them warm blankets, and called 911 right away.”
Police arrived shortly after, confirming the young girls had been inside a stolen 2013 silver Hyundai Sonata. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day. “Our top priority was to locate the infants, which we thankfully accomplished thanks to Mr. Deane’s vigilance and quick response,” said Sergeant William Young of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).
“We are grateful the infants are safe, but we are still actively searching for the perpetrators who abandoned these vulnerable children,” added Young.
Police used account of the incident to garner tips from the public.
The discovery sent shockwaves through the community. A photo released by IMPD showed the children bundled in blankets atop a bed inside their home. The image quickly circulated on social media, prompting an outpouring of concern and outrage.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about the stolen vehicle, license plate 364CMU, or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the IMPD immediately.
This is a developing story.

Indianapolis Infant Abandonment: A Community Grapples with Horror
**[HOST]** Joining us now is Dr. Amelia Grant, a child psychologist specializing in trauma, to discuss the horrific incident of two infant girls found abandoned in a stolen car in Indianapolis. Dr. Grant, the community is understandably shaken by this story. What might be going through the minds of people who hear about this?
**[DR. GRANT]** This kind of event deeply disturbs us on a primal level. As humans, we are hardwired to protect the vulnerable, especially infants. The image of those helpless babies alone and abandoned evokes fear, anger, and profound sadness. Many will be struggling to comprehend how anyone could commit such a callous act.
**[HOST]** Absolutely. There’s also the question of what kind of impact this will have on the infants themselves.
**[DR. GRANT]** This early trauma can have lasting consequences. Even though they are very young, these babies have undoubtedly experienced immense stress. They may develop attachment issues, anxiety, and difficulty forming trusting relationships later in life. It’s crucial that they receive immediate and ongoing support to help them heal and thrive.
**[HOST]** Thank you for shedding light on such a difficult topic, Dr. Grant.
**[DR. GRANT]** My hope is that this tragedy sparks a broader conversation about the support systems we have in place for families in crisis and the importance of addressing the underlying issues that can lead to such extreme acts.
