Archyde had the unique opportunity too sit down with dr. siamo Su, the Chief Engineer behind Huawei’s Mate XT | Ultimate Design, to discuss this groundbreaking trifold smartphone.
Dr. su, can you walk us through the design philosophy behind the Mate XT | Ultimate Design?
"Absolutely. Our goal was to create a smartphone that could seamlessly adapt to users’ evolving needs. The trifold design allows us to offer an expansive 10.2-inch display when fully opened, perfect for multitasking and media consumption. When folded, it’s as compact and portable as any traditional smartphone," she explains.
That trifold screen is indeed impressive. How did your team approach the challenge of creating such a durable yet flexible display?
Dr. Su smiles, "We pushed the boundaries of what’s currently possible. The trifold display uses an innovative flexible material that maintains its structural integrity even when folded. It’s a testament to our commitment to continuous innovation in mobile technologies."

We then applied this concept to the camera module’s design, resulting in the distinctive ‘sinusoidal cutting’ effect. Each lens module undergoes a meticulous 78-step production process to ensure a unique aesthetic."
