The trial against lawyer Razman Arif Nasution regarding an alleged defamation case has been postponed, pending the recovery of witness Hotman Paris.
“I submit, representing the legal team, that the trial was adjourned until next thursday, February 27, 2025, because Hotman Paris Hutapea’s brother was ill and was hospitalized. We pray for a swift recovery for Hotman’s brother and hope he can be prepared,” Razman Arif Nasution stated after the court proceedings at the North Jakarta District Court on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
The proceedings involving hotman’s testimony were conducted behind closed doors. Razman explained that his legal team hadn’t finished questioning hotman before his condition worsened.
“The questioning only reached Rahmat’s question and wasn’t concluded. Mrs.Ida would have continued, along with herwanto, his brother and new to me.Apparently,he wasn’t feeling well or perhaps less fit, maybe due to staying up late or having numerous thoughts,” Razman revealed.
He described Hotman appearing pale and unfocused during the questioning. Razman expressed hope for Hotman’s speedy recovery.
“indeed, when questioned, he had begun to look pale. I thought it was because I saw the paper falling on the left, then on the right, and he wanted to place it on the left, losing focus, so at times his answers weren’t connected,” Razman recounted.
The trial will resume on Thursday, February 27, with a focus on completing Hotman’s examination as a victim witness. Razman emphasized the importance of Hotman’s attendance and emphasized the hope that the examination can proceed uninterrupted.
“Therefore, we hope that Brother Hotman can be healthy, and we anticipate continuing this week. This examination will be continued on Thursday with a scheduled permanent agenda as a victim witness,” he stated.
Beyond the postponement, Razman raised questions about the confiscation of cellphones during the investigation. He challenged Hotman’s statement claiming Iklima Lim’s phone was not confiscated, particularly in light of Razman’s own phone and Instagram account being confiscated.
“Mr. Kapolri, I implore you to check Dody Hariansyah and assist so that Mr. Aspidum DKI Jakarta, the Prosecutor’s Office, can question the prosecutor’s office as Hotman stated that Iklima Lim’s cellphone was not confiscated. Though, my cellphone and Instagram were confiscated. Is this equality before the law? Where is the facts from this time if it wasn’t confiscated? It seems like a serious violation,” Razman questioned.
Razman announced his intention to officially write to the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office to ascertain the truth about hotman’s claims regarding the phone confiscation. He sought clarification on whether the phone was indeed confiscated from Iklima Lim, and if not, what special treatment she received.
“Officially, we will write, confirming whether the phone was confiscated or not. If it wasn’t confiscated, it implies something was specifically given to iklima. What about my case? I had my phone confiscated, hers wasn’t. This raises questions about preferential treatment,” he stated.
Razman also commented on his seemingly calmer demeanor in this trial compared to past instances. He attributed it to his obedience to the leadership of his legal advocacy organization, Peradi United.
“In the voiced people’s program, there was a term used live, watched by millions, where Razman was described as ‘tamed to his handler.’ The lion was tamed to his handler. I am tamed to the leadership of Peradi United,” Razman explained.
“So, if I want to create an atmosphere, I believe I have said my piece and been heard. What else is needed? I have said it, it’s complete,” he added.
The Razman trial also took place on Thursday, February 6, but the proceeding descended into chaos, leading the judges to adjourn the hearing. The uproar that transpired in the North Jakarta Court courtroom on february 6 marked the beginning of the suspension of the oath of advocates from Razman and his lawyer, Firdaus Oiwobo. Both were subsequently prohibited from practicing law in court.
