Hiroki Tsunoda participated in the “Red Bull Showrun Taichung” held in Taiwan and drove the 2012 machine “RB8” wearing a Red Bull racing suit. The demonstrations included exciting tricks such as tail flicks and tire burning (doughnuts), but unfortunately the machine burst into flames and the event ended.
Immediately after the exciting F1 Singapore Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda arrived in Taiwan and appeared at his garage. Hiroki Tsunoda, a regular Japanese F1 driver since 2008, used this street-closed event to convey the unique charm of F1 racing, even though F1 races are not held in Taiwan.
Prior to the demo run, Hiroki Tsunoda said, “I heard that this is the first time that the Red Bull Show Run will be held in Taiwan, but I am also from Asia.I want to deliver stimulating and exciting motorsports to all of Asia.” Please come celebrate with me tomorrow and feel it.”
Yuki Tsunoda dreams of opening a restaurant after hearing that Taiwan has a lot of delicious food.He revealed that he had a preview of making xiao long bao before the actual performance so that he could try his hand at it tomorrow, and said, “It’s really difficult.” ” he laughed.
“It’s really difficult to make xiao long bao. It’s fun! I don’t know how many times I broke it, but I’m glad I didn’t get burned because I have to bite off the top to get a sip of soup.”
At the driver’s meeting before the official performance, Hiroki Tsunoda humorously confirmed that he could press the pedal, and also revealed that he and the technical team had made adjustments to the RB8 and tested it by starting the engine.
“I’m very excited to drive the RB8 and experience Taiwan. I’m especially excited to be able to experience for myself the unique roar of the V8 engine and the ‘comfort’ of the vibrations that travel through my entire body. We want to bring our passion for this race to the streets of Taiwan.Today, many people will see an F1 car for the first time, and it will be their first unforgettable experience of motorsports culture. I hope so.”
Red Bull Racing Hall of Famer Sebastian Vettel won his first of five Grand Prix races in 2012, and finally won the 2012 F1 Drivers’ World Championship. With a total of 281 points, Red Bull was also crowned world champion. Yuki Tsunoda was just 12 years old when Sebastian Vettel and the RB8 rose to the world championship throne. Since he was still competing in the All Japan Junior Karting Championship, Tsunoda can now say he has accomplished a personal mission by being able to drive the RB8 he had admired on TV at the time.

However, just as Yuki Tsunoda began to perform a donut turn for the audience, he was forced to stop the performance early. Taiwan’s TVBS News captured the moment Tsunoda came out of the cockpit to check the situation after stopping the RB8, and Red Bull staff ran over to try to extinguish the smoke and flames.
V6 hybrid power units have been used in F1 since 2014, and this was Yuki Tsunoda’s first time driving an F1 car equipped with a V8 engine.
“It was a wonderful experience. Thank you very much for your support,” said Yuki Tsunoda.
“I saw a lot of people waving flags and waving their hands. I definitely saw every moment of it. I hope you all enjoyed Taiwan’s first F1 event. ”
“I did my best. I hope everyone enjoyed the V8 sound. Actually, it was my first time driving a V8, so it was really amazing. Thank you for your support. It was a great event.”
