**Interview with Giorgos Gavrilos on His Resignation from SYRIZA**
**Interviewer:** Good morning, Mr. Gavrilos. Thank you for joining us today. You’ve recently submitted your resignation from your role as a parliamentary representative of SYRIZA while remaining a member of the party. Can you explain what led to this decision?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Good morning, and thank you for having me. My decision to resign from my parliamentary duties stems from my dissatisfaction with the direction the party has taken over the past couple of months. I believe there have been significant mistakes made that need to be addressed, and I felt it was important to step back from a position of responsibility to focus on rectifying those issues.
**Interviewer:** You met with Nikos Pappa, the president of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, prior to your announcement. What was the nature of that discussion?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Our conversation was candid and constructive. I communicated my concerns regarding the party’s strategy and performance. It was essential for me to be honest about my feelings and the choices that I believe are necessary for the future of SYRIZA.
**Interviewer:** Given the current political climate and the recent split of Stefanos Kasselakis from SYRIZA, do you believe your resignation may signal further instability within the party?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** That’s a valid point. The landscape is indeed shifting, and my resignation is just one part of a broader reassessment that some members are undergoing. The recent developments, including Kaselakis’s split, are forcing many of us to reconsider our positions and the party’s direction.
**Interviewer:** Some members and supporters might interpret your resignation as a lack of faith in the party’s leadership. What would you say to them?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** I understand that perception, but it’s not a rejection of the party itself—it’s more about advocating for necessary changes. True loyalty sometimes means challenging the status quo to ensure we stay effective and true to our values. I hope my actions can stimulate a healthy debate within SYRIZA.
**Interviewer:** what message would you like to convey to SYRIZA supporters who are worried about the party’s future?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** I encourage them to remain engaged and vocal about their concerns. The strength of our party lies in its active and committed base. Let’s continue to push for transparency and accountability, ensuring our party reflects the principles we stand for.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for sharing your insights, Mr. Gavrilos. This is certainly a pivotal moment for SYRIZA, and we appreciate your perspective.
