Gruglaisco Mental Health Center Receives Generous Donation for Rehabilitation Therapist

The Grugliasco Mental Health Center has welcomed a new psychiatric rehabilitation technician, thanks to a generous donation that will fund a 38-hour per week scholarship for two years. The scholarship, which will be followed by a second identical one, was made possible by Mrs. Maria Giuseppina Musso in grateful remembrance of her nephew, who was cared for by the center’s Community Mental Health Services (CSM) from 1999 to 2020.

The newly appointed psychiatric rehabilitation technician plays a critical role in providing personalized interventions and support to patients. By working closely with a multidisciplinary team, they will help patients on their journey of recovery and social reintegration. Rehabilitative interventions, built on personalized projects, are one of the cornerstones of mental health treatment.

Rising Need for Mental Health Services

Diagnoses of mental disorders are on the rise, with increases of 30 percent observed particularly among the most vulnerable populations and young people. Mental health services are on the front lines, implementing proactive prevention and monitoring strategies while also working to intercept and treat mental distress in those most at risk. The local mental health center serves as a hub for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation interventions.

A formal ceremony was held to officially acknowledge Mrs. Musso’s gift, bringing together key personnel from AslTo3 and the Grugliasco Mental Health Center.
