FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team has officially unveiled an ambitious 55-game schedule for the upcoming 2025 season, kicking off with their highly anticipated opener on February 14, followed by their inaugural home game scheduled for March 19. The Stags, who have established a remarkable legacy by clinching the last four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season championships, will engage in a robust 30-league game slate, starting with a challenging road series against Manhattan.
“Our schedule is setup with the intent to challenge us with very competitive schools and prepare us for a quicker MAAC starting date in early March this year,” Head Coach Bill Currier emphasized, highlighting the strategic approach towards their season. “Our team will have a shorter time to figure things out before jumping into MAAC play, so making use of these games and deciding on lineups and staff spots will be important.”
The Stags will tackle their first 17 games away from home, embarking on non-conference series against formidable opponents such as Florida Gulf Coast from February 14-16, Richmond from February 21-23, James Madison from February 28 to March 2, and George Washington from March 7-9, before launching into their initial MAAC series on the road against Manhattan from March 14-16.
Fairfield begins their exciting 21-game home slate against St. John’s at Don and Chris Cook Field on March 19, marking a pivotal moment in their season as they return to their home turf in front of loyal fans.
In the competitive MAAC lineup, the Stags will welcome league rivals such as Siena (March 21-23), Sacred Heart (April 4-6), Merrimack (April 17-19), Quinnipiac (April 25-27), and Niagara (May 9-11) to their home field for what promises to be thrilling contests.
On the road, the Stags will face a tough series of conference opponents including Manhattan, Canisius from March 28-30, Iona from April 11-13, Marist from May 2-4, and Rider from May 15-17, as they look to build on their past successes.
In addition to league play, the Stags will engage in a series of non-conference single games on home turf against notable teams such as St. John’s, NJIT on March 25, Central Connecticut State on April 8, Fordham on April 22, Fairleigh Dickinson University on April 23, and Long Island University on May 13.
Fairfield will also hit the road for critical mid-week contests, facing off against Hofstra on March 11, Army West Point on March 26, Yale on April 2, UMass on April 9, Columbia on April 15, and Stony Brook on April 29, providing opportunities to gain valuable experience against diverse competition.
The Stags are currently enjoying the most successful five-year stretch in program history, consistently winning 30 or more games in each full season. Notably, Fairfield has become the first MAAC program to capture four consecutive regular season titles and has made appearances in the MAAC Championship Series during four of the last five tournaments, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in collegiate baseball.

**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Coach Currier! Exciting news about the 2025 baseball schedule. Can you share what influenced the decision to create such an ambitious 55-game schedule for the upcoming season?
**Coach Currier:** Thank you for having me! Our primary goal with this schedule is to challenge our players with tough competition right from the start. We believe that playing against strong opponents will better prepare us for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games, especially with the conference schedule starting earlier this year. It’s crucial for us to establish our lineups and make key staffing decisions before we jump into league play.
**Interviewer:** It sounds like you’re facing quite a few tough teams early on. What are some of the highlights of the non-conference matchups you’ve planned?
**Coach Currier:** Absolutely! We kick things off with a series against Florida Gulf Coast, which is always a competitive environment, and follow that with Richmond, James Madison, and George Washington. These matchups are not just about wins and losses; they provide invaluable experience and will help us settle into the season quickly. This late winter and early spring period can be a great time for development if we approach it the right way.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned that your first 17 games will be away from home. How important is it for the team to adjust to road games early in the season?
**Coach Currier:** It’s a critical adjustment period. Playing on the road means dealing with different environments and challenges, which can be tough. However, these games are an excellent way for our team to build camaraderie and resilience. We’re hoping that by the time we play our first home game on March 19, the team will be well-prepared to perform in front of our home crowd.
**Interviewer:** The Stags have built a strong legacy, clinching the last four MAAC regular season championships. How does the team plan to maintain that success with this new schedule?
**Coach Currier:** Maintaining success is always a collective effort. It’s about bringing the right mindset into each game and leveraging our past experiences. We’ve built a solid foundation, and the key now is to keep pushing ourselves, learn from each game, and stay focused on our goals—to win the MAAC championship again and compete at a high level.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Coach Currier! We’re looking forward to seeing how the Stags perform this season.
**Coach Currier:** Thank you! We appreciate the support and look forward to an exciting season ahead. Be sure to follow our journey!
