We viewed these competitions as a platform, a stage where the Afghan Dreamers could showcase their skills, gain international recognition, and, most importantly, break down stereotypes about women in STEM, particularly from Afghanistan. we wanted to emphasize the obstacles they overcame just to participate – securing funding, navigating cultural expectations, and, ultimately, dealing with direct threats from the Taliban. The competitions were significant, but they were a means to a much larger end: empowering these young women and inspiring others to pursue their dreams, regardless of the challenges they face. The film’s focus on the human story over technical details of the competition was very deliberate.
