Former TVB employee found guilty of inciting to attack Maxim’s MTR facility

A 26-year-old former male employee of Radio Television (TVB) is suspected of posting a post on the online discussion forum “Lian Deng” from September to November 2019, calling on protesters to damage the MTR station’s CCTV and “major renovations”. “Maxim Foods, “Sniper” TVB artists, boycott TVB advertisers, and “Fire Attack Launching Station”, etc. He denies 3 counts of “inciting others to commit criminal damage”. The case was concluded earlier. Magistrate Liu Shuxian convicted him on all charges at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Court today (2nd) and adjourned his sentence to June 16th pending a background report. ; the magistrate also revoked the defendant’s bail, and he must be remanded in custody pending sentence.

26-year-old defendant Zhang Jianhua, who reported as a technician, was charged with illegally inciting other unknown persons and destroying the CCTV of MTR Corporation Limited without legal excuse on August 9, November 14 and November 19, 2019 respectively , Maxim’s bakery, store, restaurant or business, and the transmitting station of Hong Kong Television Broadcasts Limited.
