“Clown in a Cornfield” introduces audiences to Frendo, a terrifying new killer clown. How did you come up with the idea of Frendo, and what inspired his disturbing backstory?

Adam Cesare: Frendo was inspired by my lifelong fear of clowns. I wanted to create a clown that was truly scary, not just funny or sad. I drew from various urban legends and horror classics, blending them with my own creepy ideas to craft Frendo’s chilling backstory.

Eli Craig on Bringing “clown in a Cornfield” to Life

Eli Craig,known for his work on the horror-comedy “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil,” brings his unique touch to this slasher. What attracted you to adapt Adam’s novel, and how do you balance horror and comedy in your films?

Eli Craig: Adam’s novel gripped me instantly. It had all the elements of a classic slasher, with a unique twist that I knew I could infuse with my signature blend of horror and comedy. Eli Craig: Adam’s novel is so rich and detailed that it was essential to remain faithful to its core story and characters.Where I could be more creative was in expanding upon certain elements and designing Frendo’s look and world, ensuring the film felt both like a faithful adaptation and a unique cinematic experience.
