Chispa Festival: Connecting Older Children with Families

First-of-its-Kind Festival Aims to Connect Older Children in Need of Families

A unique celebration called “Chispa” seeks to ignite the road to adoption with a family-focused event in Neuquén, Argentina, taking place on Saturday, November 30. The event is born from the need to find loving homes for older children and teenagers who yearn for families.

“We are organizing this event to light a spark in every applicant and in every person to see if you can build a family,” explains Patricio Ramos, whose own family sparked from a similar spark.

“What are we looking for? Is to promote children’s rights, boy or girl teens development, have a family,” continued Ramos. The reality is that the Registry

of Single Adoption (RUA) has a very limited age range.

The festival, said organizers, pays special attention to connect families open to adopting older children.

“We seek to ignite the desire to raise children and young people without any conditions,” said Ramos.

“Adoption is the union of two hopes: children with a family and the hope of families with sons or daughters. At Chispa we are committed to raising awareness.

What challenges do‍ prospective parents commonly face when considering adopting older children, and⁣ how does Chispa address those⁢ challenges?

**Interviewer:** Patricio, tell us about this unique “Chispa” festival and ⁤what inspired it.

**Patricio‌ Ramos:** This event is all about igniting the desire for connection, for⁢ building⁢ families. We see so many older children and teenagers longing for loving homes, and our Registry of Single Adoption has a limited age-range ‍that often excludes them. We want Chispa to be a spark, a ⁤catalyst for families to open their hearts and ‌consider adopting these‌ deserving young people.

**Interviewer:** Why the focus on older children?

**Patricio⁣ Ramos:** While infants are often the first to⁤ be adopted, older children have just as much love to give and deserve ⁢a chance at a stable, loving ⁤family. We want to challenge the misconception ⁢that⁤ only young children are adoptable and celebrate the unique joys of parenting older‍ kids. It is about promoting the children’s rights, their development, and fulfilling their fundamental need for a family.

**Interviewer:** What kind of atmosphere are you hoping to create at Chispa?

**Patricio Ramos:** We envision a festive, ‍welcoming environment. An opportunity for ‍prospective parents to learn, connect with each ⁣other, and most importantly, connect‍ with these amazing children ⁤and‌ teens. Adoption is truly the union of two hopes: the child’s hope for a family and the family’s hope for a child.‌ We’re dedicated to raising awareness and making those hopes a reality, each adoption a breathtaking ‍tapestry woven from individual stories of love and‍ belonging.
