Mike Stevens, Bring Me the Horizon: Thanks for having me, Eleanor.Honestly, we where looking for a challenge. We usually dive into obscure tracks for covers, so we thought, “Let’s flip the script and reimagine something everyone knows.” “Wonderwall” felt like the perfect song to experiment with. We wanted to put our own BMTH spin on it without wholly losing the heart of the original.

Mike Stevens,Bring Me the Horizon: (Laughs) Shock,pure shock! We braced ourselves for criticism. Oasis is practically sacred in Britain. Seeing Liam’s reaction on social media was absolutely surreal. Oli [Sykes] kept refreshing Twitter,thinking it was a joke.It’s incredibly validating to get that kind of approval from an artist we respect so much.

Mike Stevens,Bring Me the Horizon: It’s a tightrope walk. The key is to understand what makes the original special. What’s the soul of the song? Then, you figure out how to translate that feeling into your own language. For “Wonderwall,” we focused on creating a more atmospheric, almost dreamlike soundscape. We wanted to complement the melody and lyrics, not bury them.

Mike Stevens, Bring Me the Horizon: We’re always writing and experimenting. Expect some new sounds, collaborations, and hopefully a lot more touring. As for the British music scene, I’m optimistic. There’s so much talent coming up, pushing boundaries and blending genres. The internet has democratized music creation and distribution,which means more diverse voices are being heard. It’s an exciting time to be a musician.
