EU-LAC Digital Accelerator: Bridging Continents Through Innovation

The EU-LAC Digital Accelerator is forging powerful connections between Europe and Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC), fostering innovation and driving digital conversion. By matching startups and SMEs, the Accelerator is facilitating joint ventures and unlocking new opportunities for growth on both sides of the Atlantic.

Success Stories: AI in Insurance and Smart Logistics

The Accelerator has already facilitated several impactful partnerships. One notable example is the collaboration between Solmovsa, an Ecuadorian company, and MotionsCloud, a German startup, who are incorporating AI into the insurance sector. This partnership exemplifies how the Accelerator’s customized services, including initial matching and B2B meetings, can transform innovative ideas into successful joint ventures.

The Accelerator doesn’t just stop at matchmaking. It also connects digital projects with public and private investors, providing access to innovative financial tools. For instance, the Development Bank of Jamaica is set to provide financial support to Jamaican startups that are selected for future partnerships within the accelerator program.

Another success story involves Infotrack, a Colombian company specializing in smart logistics, and Bleecker Technologies, a Spanish startup. Bleecker Technologies is providing Infotrack with its Artificial Vision technology to improve warehouse and inventory management through Infotrack’s Smart Stock software.

Health Sector Revolutionized

The health sector is also experiencing significant advancements through collaborations facilitated by the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator. TechBalance from Brazil and Habicuidados from Portugal are prime examples of this. TechBalance, known for its “digital physiotherapist” that assesses and monitors the health of adults and seniors, is partnering with Habicuidados, a Portuguese institution specializing in home support for the elderly.

  • TechBalance & habicuidados: TechBalance will validate its TechSports solution in real-world environments in Portugal, positioning it for European certification and commercialization.
  • DataFlow & Medlab: DataFlow, a Uruguayan company specializing in data analytics, is collaborating with Medlab, a German manufacturer of medical devices, to improve patient care and optimize healthcare services using IoT and AI-driven solutions.

Hugo Articardi, CEO of DataFlow, emphasizes the transformative potential of their collaboration: “Collaborating with Medlab allows DataFlow to push the boundaries of healthcare innovation. United by a shared commitment to life, we are combining IoT and AI technologies to create accessible, efficient and high-quality healthcare solutions that impact lives across borders.”

Construction: Building a Better Future

The Accelerator’s impact extends to the construction sector as well. Italian corporation Ecobonusitalia sought innovative solutions to enhance its digital platform for construction professionals. They found the perfect match in jazsoft, an Argentinian startup specializing in Building Information Modeling (BIM), and IRM Consulting, an Argentinian SME focused on AI and Machine Learning.

  • Ecobonusitalia, Jazsoft, & IRM Consulting: Jazsoft’s advanced BIM modules will provide dynamic visualization and simulation of construction projects. Partnering with IMR Consulting will bring AI and Machine Learning solutions for personalized recommendations, making the platform more intuitive and effective.

Opportunities abound: The Third Call for Partnerships

Following the success of its initial phases – including 22 partnerships selected in 2024 – the Digital Accelerator has launched a third call for applications, offering invaluable acceleration services to corporations and startups aiming to develop Cleantech, Smart Production and health Tech solutions.

What are some of the potential ethical challenges posed by the use of AI and IoT in healthcare, and how can these be addressed to ensure responsible innovation in this field?

DataFlow & Medlab: Revolutionizing Healthcare with IoT and AI – An Interview with Hugo Articardi

the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator is proving to be a catalyst for cross-continental innovation. We sat down with Hugo Articardi, CEO of DataFlow, a Uruguayan company partnering with German medical device manufacturer Medlab through the Accelerator program, to discuss their groundbreaking collaboration in healthcare innovation. Let’s delve into how IoT and AI are transforming patient care.

Data-Driven Healthcare: A conversation with Hugo Articardi

Archyde: Hugo, thank you for joining us. DataFlow’s collaboration with Medlab is generating significant buzz. Could you elaborate on the genesis of this partnership and how the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator facilitated it?

Hugo Articardi: Absolutely. We at DataFlow believe in the power of data to revolutionize healthcare. Medlab, with it’s expertise in medical device manufacturing, shared our vision. the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator played a crucial role in connecting us, providing a platform for initial matchmaking and subsequent B2B meetings. Their structured approach helped us identify synergies and build a strong foundation for collaboration.

Archyde: Your work focuses on leveraging IoT and AI. Can you give us specific examples of how these technologies are improving patient care and healthcare services through this joint venture?

Hugo Articardi: Certainly. We’re integrating IoT sensors into Medlab’s medical devices to collect real-time patient data. This data, coupled with our AI algorithms, enables predictive analytics, allowing for proactive interventions and personalized treatment plans. For instance, we’re developing a system that can predict potential health complications in patients with chronic conditions, allowing doctors to intervene before a crisis occurs. This optimizes healthcare services by reducing hospital readmissions and improving patient outcomes.
