Pink Party Raises Funds and Awareness for Breast Cancer
The Carlow Women’s Shed, known affectionately as Bosom Buddies, recently hosted a heartwarming ‘pink party’ to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. The event was a resounding success, with all proceeds from raffle tickets and donations generously contributed to supporting this important cause.
The convivial atmosphere of the ‘pink party’ was further enhanced by the delicious spread of homemade treats and cakes prepared by the dedicated members of Bosom Buddies. Their efforts were complemented by generous donations of baked goods from local businesses Crotty’s Bakery and Rath’s Londis Plus, adding a touch of sweetness to the occasion.
Community Rallies in Support
“The fundraiser was a great success,” said Anne McGrath, a member of Carlow Women’s Shed. “We had a great turnout; it was a massive show of support from the local community for such a worthwhile cause. We want to thank all the members who donated and made prizes for our raffle and give a special thanks to Crotty’s Bakery and Rath’s Londis for the cakes and buns they donated for the party.”
The overwhelming response from the community underscored the significance of this initiative and the deep commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness and care.
More than a Fundraiser
The ‘pink party’ wasn’t just about raising funds; it was a powerful demonstration of solidarity and a reminder of the importance of community support. For many, breast cancer is a deeply personal issue that resonates within families and friendships.
Bosom Buddies, with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, provides a valuable space for women to connect, share experiences, and offer each other much-needed encouragement.
Welcoming New Members
The group meets at their welcoming headquarters located directly opposite the cathedral on College Street, every weekday, inviting anyone interested to pop in for a cuppa and a chat.
