Dozens of people spoke out against genocide in the middle of the Climate Change Conference (Presidency of the 29th Conference of the Parties/COP29) Olympic Stadium Baku, Azerbaijan, Monday (11/11).
Based on field observations, this action was attended by people from various age groups. Some of them wear keffiyehs or typical Palestinian turbans.
The current COP29 Azerbaijan is an important moment for Indonesia to show its true commitment to a future that is free from fossils and prioritizes renewable energy. This was stated by Greenpeace Climate and Energy Campaigner Bondan Andriyanu.
“As a developing country with enormous renewable energy potential, Indonesia needs to show leadership in climate commitments at COP29,” said Bondan when contacted, Sunday (10/11).
According to him, in this forum, Indonesia needs to emphasize its commitment to phase out the use of coal and gas, as well as stop the construction of captive PLTUs which only benefit large corporations and coal entrepreneurs. (Z-11)
