A Festive Countdown and a Celebration of Art and Life
This year, the countdown to Christmas is enriched by an anthology of short stories, inviting us to embrace the anticipation with a story a day. “24 stories for Christmas,” a new collection curated by Latvian publisher Latvijas Mediji, offers a daily dose of literary magic throughout December.
The collection features an impressive lineup of Latvian authors, including Leldes Jaujas, Ineses ķesteres, Guntas Šnipkes, Lilijas Berzinskas, Livas Vecvagares, Ruta Zimnoha, Zane Krēsliņa, Mara Ulma, and many more.
Simultaneously, the Latvian National Art Museum invites visitors to delve into a different kind of story – that of Latvian artist Ludolf Liberts. Reflecting on the brilliance of art deco, the “Retrospective of the works of Ludolf
Libert: The Hypnotic Brilliance of Art Deco” features a breathtaking collection of mil limpsemd
into Liberts’s creative genius, offering a glimpse into the conceptualizations behind his numerous opera productions.
The exhibition doesn’t end with visuals.
On Sunday morning, the museum hosts an exclusive guided tour of
Libert’s unique scenography. This event is not just visual; it’s inclusive, too! Art historian Rita Brock will provide commentary in both spoken and sign language, allowing everyone to experience and appreciate the
artist’s work.
Happily falling on December 8th, Mārtiņš Zilberts’ birthday, the visual splendor of the museum exhibits
gives way to a celebration of musical brilliance. This year, a Concert Remembering Mārtiņš Zilberts, the pianist whose life ended too early this past July, is taking place at the Latvian Music Academy.
According to rompany dedicated to
commemorating the life of the beloved pianist. Zilberts.
