Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru Arrested in Corruption Sting Operation
Pekanbaru, Riau – In a surprising turn of events, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation in Pekanbaru, leading to the arrest of Acting Mayor Risnandar Mahiwa. The arrest took place on Monday evening, sending shockwaves through the city.
Confirmation of the arrest came from KPK Deputy Chairman Johanis Tanak, who confirmed the news via written message.
The KPK investigators brought Risnandar to the Pekanbaru Police Headquarters for further questioning. The atmosphere at the police station was tense, with tight security measures imposed. The main gate was closed, and only authorized personnel were granted access.
Risnandar had only held the position as Acting Mayor for six months. He assumed office on May 22nd, taking over from the previous acting Mayor, Muflihun. Aside from his role as Acting Mayor, Risnandar also serves as the Director of Mass Organizations at the Directorate General of Politics and General Government, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Originally from Luwuk, he was born on July 6, 1964. Further details regarding the charges against Risnandar remain unclear, as the KPK is currently conducting a 24-hour inspection.
Deputy Chairman Ghufron explained, "The KPK team is still carrying out the inspection process for 24 hours. Please be patient, and once it is finished, we will provide information to the public."
