The new PP PBSI leadership readily acknowledged the challenges ahead.
"We are entering this new term with the common understanding that PBSI needs improvement. Despite standing among the world’s elite badminton nations, numerous goals remain unachieved," stated Fadil in his inaugural address.
"Securing a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics is paramount. We’ve identified organizational issues impacting performance. We cannot shy away from these realities; we must address them head-on," he emphasized.
To tackle these challenges, the new leadership is committed to a complete restructuring.
Fadil further elaborated, "We believe dialogue and collaborative decision-making are crucial. We’ve communicated with regional associations, club owners, athletes, coaches and legends of the sport. ## Interview with New PBSI Chairman on Olympic Ambitions
Today we’re joined by Commissioner General of Police Muhammad Fadil Imran, newly elected chairman of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), to talk about the future of Indonesian badminton. Welcome, Mr. Imran.
**Mr. Imran:** Thank you for having me.
**Interviewer:** Your inauguration marks a fresh start for PBSI. You’ve spoken about significant changes and a focus on achieving Olympic glory. What are the key areas of improvement you plan to address?
**Mr. Imran:** We’ve assembled a strong team of passionate individuals, including legendary athletes like Ricky Soebagdja and Taufik Hidayat [1]. Our global standing in badminton is solid, but we recognize there’s room for growth. We need to strengthen our organizational structure, foster better communication between regional associations, clubs, and athletes, and embrace modern practices to optimize performance.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned the Paris 2024 Olympics. Is that the main target for the new leadership?
**Mr. Imran:** Absolutely, securing a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics is a top priority[[[[[1](https://www.kompas.id/baca/english/2024/08/10/en-menpora-minta-pbsi-lakukan-transformasi-hingga-siapkan-peta-jalan-menuju-olimpiade-2028)]. We believe this restructuring, with its emphasis on collaboration, clear strategies, and data-driven decision making, will help us reach that goal [1].
**Interviewer:** How will you ensure all these changes translate into tangible results on the court?
**Mr. Imran:** We’re bringing in independent management consultants to offer fresh perspectives. We’ll be working closely with coaches and athletes, listening to their feedback and identifying areas for improvement. This isn’t just about restructuring; it’s about creating a culture of excellence throughout the entire badminton ecosystem in Indonesia.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for your time, Mr. Imran. It sounds like an exciting new chapter for Indonesian badminton.
**Mr. Imran:** Thank you. We are committed to making Indonesia a dominant force in the world of badminton.
