How was your day?
This is my sixth meeting today. Several [vietnē] “Zoom,” quite different profiles, three different countries. I am currently writing music for a play at Dailes Theater with the Dutch director Ola Mafālani, we are also working with him on a play at the Dutch National Theatre. I lead the Latvian Composers’ Union, and through it I also represent Latvia in the “Baltic Contemporary Music Network” organization – I had a meeting with it. In the morning I met with one student, now there is this interview, after that I participate in a discussion about the importance of family in art at the Gertrude Street Theater. The days are very different, for example tomorrow I will be at the Academy of Music, where I teach several subjects, but at least it is one location. And then it’s mostly composing – from morning to evening.

You asked if there is an interaction between reason and emotion in my work: I would say that they are balanced. It does not]work simply– the emotional response is essential. Some might even say I’m overly emotional. But there’s also no execution without knowing that means I have a clear idea of
the work. What ”
