Marie Verhulst Reflects on 10 Years Since Ghost Rockers: Excitement for Studio 100’s SingAlong Reunion

It has been exactly ten years since Marie Verhulst (28) started her first TV project. That was Ghost Rockers. The entire cast will soon come together again for Studio 100’s SingAlong party in the Sportpaleis.

Marie is really looking forward to it. “The enthusiasm was great when that question came,” she says in Het Laatste Nieuws. “You just hope they ask you to be on that show. Although at first we thought it would be too early. The episodes stopped ten years ago, but our last performance was only five years ago. That is actually still quite recent.”

“Ghost Rockers was my first real TV project. I had already played some smaller roles, but this was my first real television project. I have only warm memories of them, especially of each other. Everyone is so busy these days that we don’t see each other often anymore, although we still hear each other regularly.”

Marie emphasizes that she had to audition for her role in Ghost Rockers. “I didn’t get that role because I’m ‘the daughter of’. When such a project starts, you will of course hear that comment. But it’s naive to think that a company like Studio 100, which is so highly regarded in terms of quality, would just say to someone: ‘Go ahead.’ I did four rounds of auditions, and it all took a very long time. Ultimately, everyone is brought together to see what the best match is. If you don’t do those auditions, you won’t know in advance. There’s no point in having to justify myself for that. I wouldn’t want people to treat me differently either. That seems very tiring to me.”

Celebrating a Decade of Ghosts, Rocking! 🎤👻

Ah, ten years since Marie Verhulst first graced our screens in what could only be described as a supernatural ode to teenage angst, Ghost Rockers. You know it’s been a while when you find yourself reminiscing over a show that made you laugh, cringe, and probably wonder what *really* goes on in a rock band with ghosts. One can only hope they don’t have stage fright because there’s an exclusive reunion coming up at Studio 100’s SingAlong party! Talk about a reason to pop the popcorn! 🍿

“The enthusiasm was great when that question came!” – Marie Verhulst

The excitement in Marie’s voice is palpable as she gushes about the reunion, saying, “You just hope they ask you to be on that show.” It’s wonderful to see how the enthusiasm is contagious, even a decade later. I mean, who wouldn’t want to roll back the years? For me, it feels like yesterday I was trying to remember the last time I scrubbed that musical number out of my brain — and it still lingers like that regrettable tattoo. 🙈

From Roles to Rock and Everything in Between

Marie cheekily admits that it was her first *“real TV project”*. It’s almost as if all those smaller roles were just a warm-up for what was to come! Moving from bit parts to headlining in a ghostly rock fest is like going from a private show in your bathroom to selling out Wembley. “I have only warm memories of them, especially of each other,” she recalls — wait, did she just drop the hint that they were ghosting each other all this time? Sorry, I couldn’t resist. 👻🎤

But fear not, folks! Despite their busy schedules, it appears that they still keep in touch. Who knew that managing a ghost band would be such a time-consuming gig? Let’s hope they can still manage to find their way back to each other without using the echo-location method that haunted flocks of teenagers could! 😆

Auditions: No Ghosts Allowed!

Now, let’s talk about the audition process — four rounds of grueling selection! Marie had to prove she wasn’t just “the daughter of” someone with connections. Anyone who thinks it’s easy peasy to get these roles is in for a surprise! It’s not like the casting directors pull names out of a hat at a bingo night!

“There’s no point in having to justify myself for that.” – Marie Verhulst

Marie’s refusal to take shortcuts and rejection of nepotism charges is a refreshing take. It just goes to show, there’s more than meets the eye! It’s like when I try to convince my friends that my impression of a famous comedian is NOT just me doing a terrible impersonation of anyone who’ve ever graced the stage. If you want success, you’ve got to put in the time, darling! 🕰️

Time to Rock Once More!

So here’s to Marie Verhulst and the Ghost Rockers — may their reunion bring back all the good vibes (and not too many ghosts haunting the stage). Will they still have their killer moves? Can they hit those high notes or will they need a little ghostly assistance? 🎶👻 Let’s cross our fingers and tune in for a night of nostalgia, laughter, and possibly a few scare tactics. Who knows? Maybe they will conjure a whole new audience into the eerie world of rock ’n’ roll!

And if none of that pans out? Well, at least it’ll give me some fodder for comedy material, right? It’s not like I haven’t used embarrassing dance moves in my act before! Cheers to Marie and the gang — here’s hoping you don’t scare off the audience before the first chorus! 🥂
